Read on to hear her thoughts on the trends, challenges and opportunities currently within the e-commerce packaging industry, and why people should be attending the E-PACK Asia 2022 conference.

Q. What do you think of the E-Pack Asia 2022 conference?

E-Pack is a well-known international conference in the global e-commerce packaging industry, bringing you the latest market development direction and trend of international e-commerce packaging. This E-Pack Asia conference will bring us a lot of wonderful content, including international brands sharing packaging case studies; new e-commerce packaging technology and experiences; e-commerce sustainability packaging development and other content. The E-Pack conference is an international communication platform and has successfully held several conferences in America, Europe, and Asia, providing a good communication platform and opportunity for participants. This is ISTA China’s first-time attending E-Pack Asia, and we are looking forward to seeing the latest information on the development of e-commerce packaging brought by representatives from various industries around the world, to bring more development opportunities to the e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce packaging market in Asia and China.

Q. What problems do you think ISTA can solve in e-commerce packaging?

The International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) is an organization focused on transport packaging, having pioneered the concept of transport packaging performance testing and certification more than 70 years ago, and today ISTA's testing procedures and certifications remain at the forefront of international transport packaging. In 2018 ISTA developed a series of 6-AMAZON.Com procedures using a Distribution Environment Data Collection approach along with expertise in an omni-channel supply chain system. The standard is the first e-commerce platform for international transport packaging test standards and facilitates the development of e-commerce packaging globalization. Using scientific and technical guidance of standardized global supplier of transport packaging, ensures the safety and reliability of brands products, promotes the standardization of e-commerce platform for the global supply chain and enhances the brand value, influence, and quality of service.

Q. How do you think e-commerce packaging should ensure product safety and reliability?

In the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic has swept the world and consumers have turned to online consumption on a large scale, spurring the rapid development of the global e-commerce retail industry. Under the background of rapid development of enterprises driven by the market and favorable policies of several governments, e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce are developing rapidly in China and it is more important than ever to ensure consumers to buy high-quality products, but also to ensure the reliability of product distribution and packaging safety. ISTA’s Omni-channel Supply Chain Distribution Environment Data Collection uses advanced data collection equipment, scientific data collection methods and analysis methods to develop packaging standards that meet the requirements of e-commerce platform enterprises. The guidance helps improve product transport packaging design, implement precise packaging, reduce packaging and logistics costs, enhance enterprise brand value and influence, and supports the e-commerce packaging industry with scientific digital information and cooperates with the manufacturing industry to form an innovative service industry. Internationally, North America has completed Omni-channel Supply Chain Distribution Environment Data Collection and its analysis methods and standards, such as Amazon e-commerce packaging test procedures. India has completed the Omni-channel Supply Chain Distribution Environment Data Collection and is moving towards transport packaging testing standards. Data collection is already under way in Europe and related work in China will also begin soon. The above work provides good experience and technical support for the development of e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce transport packaging testing standards in Asia and China.
